A Summer to remember in Croydon

Community, creativity and sunshine in the town centre

Costa del Croydon returned to Centrale & Whitgift this August, once again transforming Croydon’s town centre into a vibrant seaside escape. Running from 1–31 August, the free, family-friendly event brought the joy of summer to the heart of the borough – complete with deckchairs, sand, live music and creative workshops for all ages.

The 2025 edition of Costa Del Croydon attracted over 25,000 visitors, showing just how much local families and visitors value this unique community event. More than 60% of attendees were walk-ins, highlighting its broad appeal amongst shoppers, families and the after-work crowd.

This year’s programme featured over 30 free workshops and performances from Croydon and South London creatives, plus 10 community sessions run in partnership with Croydon Voluntary Action. From dance and drumming to crafts and storytelling, every event celebrated local talent and connection.

The event reached new audiences too, with ITV’s This Morning, Time Out, Metro, The Sun, and BBC Radio London coming down, plus over 1 million social media impressions. Meanwhile, The Croydon Project continued to make visible progress as the Whitgift Centre’s glass roof was successfully repaired, enhancing the quality, safety, and sustainability of the town centre’s spaces. The repairs will ensure that local residents and visitors can enjoy the Whitgift Centre whatever the weather, and represent another step forward in creating a better, more welcoming environment for everyone.

From community celebrations to ongoing improvements across the town centre, the past few months have highlighted our shared commitment to making Croydon an even more vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and visit.
