As part of its wider commitment to community safety and inclusion, Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centre in partnership with HERSANA CIC is hosting a free Community Bystander Intervention training session.

As part of its wider commitment to the local community, The Croydon Project celebrated the latest recipients of the Croydon Community Grant Fund – a programme operated in partnership with Croydon Voluntary Action.

A Summer to remember in Croydon
Costa del Croydon returned to Centrale & Whitgift this August, once again transforming Croydon’s town centre into a vibrant seaside escape. Running from 1–31 August, the free, family-friendly event brought the joy of summer to the heart of the borough.

As part of The Croydon Project’s ongoing commitment to championing culture and creativity, October has been full of vibrant celebrations at the Centrale & Whitgift centres, with a programme of events marking Black History Month, Halloween, and Diwali.
Allders Parade launches, creating new opportunities for Croydon’s community
Allders Parade has launched, marking a significant milestone for The Croydon Project. Opening day was a brilliant success, Miniso and Sky led the first wave of openings on 26 September, drawing crowds and long queues.
New shops in Allders
URW has announced the launch of Allders Parade, a curated line-up of shops and dining offers at the much loved and iconic Allders department store building. This marks a key milestone for The Croydon Project and broader URW Masterplan Framework for the town centre.
Planning application submitted for Centrale
Application submitted to Croydon Council for a series of targeted external improvements to Centrale Shopping Centre, marking another milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Croydon town centre. The designs aim to improve accessibility and enhance the customer arrival experience.
Launch of Allders Parade
Allders Parade opened to the public with a curated line-up of shops and dining offers. The launch marked a key milestone in The Croydon Project, supporting the revitalisation and transformation of Croydon town centre and bringing new life back to the historic Allders site.
Consultation on our early vision
We invited the community to view our early vision for The Croydon Project at a series of events in Centrale. All information was hosted digitally, and feedback was captured through a survey which was open from mid-July to early September. This feedback has helped us to continue to develop a masterplan. Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centres generated £813,241 in social value across 2024
In its first year of reporting, Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centres in Croydon generated £813,241 in social value. Key milestones included the unveiling of the Elianne Andam Memorial Mural, created in partnership with local organisations, and the impactful ‘Cut It Out’ football match at Crystal Palace — both aimed at promoting youth safety and community cohesion.
NextGen Panel launch
The NextGen Panel brings together 16–25-year-olds from across Croydon to help shape the future of the town centre. It provides a platform for young voices to influence The Croydon Project, ensuring local perspectives, lived experiences and future aspirations are reflected as proposals evolve. Masterplan Framework endorsed by Croydon Council Planning Committee
Following public consultation on a draft framework in late 2024, an updated version was considered and endorsed by Croydon Council’s Planning Committee in February 2025. Read the Masterplan Framework here.
Consultation on the Masterplan Framework
An early draft of the Masterplan Framework was consulted on through a series of public events and online. Feedback from this consultation was used to update aspects of the Masterplan Framework to ensure it reflected local priorities. You can view the materials from this consultation here.
URW secures full ownership of the Whitgift and Centrale sites
URW completed the acquisition of Hammerson’s 50% stake in the Croydon Partnership securing full ownership of the Whitgift and Centrale sites and strengthening its position to drive the regeneration of Croydon town centre.
